Dermal fillers are an excellent way to add volume to various areas of the face (and hand.) The most commonly used fillers are Hyaluronic Acid fillers (such as Juvederm, Voluma, Belotero and Restylane) or Hydroxylapatite (Radiesse.)
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally-occurring substance that makes up a part of our skin’s soft connective tissue matrix. As we age, we lose Hyaluronic Acid from out skin, which creates volume loss. This can lead to deepening of various lines, wrinkles and creases; and other aging effects such as hollowed tear troughs (dark circles below the eyes) and sunken temples.
Hydroxylapatite is a naturally-occurring mineral, mostly found in the bones.
Dermal fillers can instantly add volume to deficient areas, and reduce various lines and wrinkles for a much more youthful and radiant appearance. The results are instantaneous, and often last for several months to a year. Over time, the dermal fillers may also induce body’s own collagen formation, which will have anti-aging effects.
Dermal fillers should not be performed if you are using Accutane. Please consult with your prescribing doctor prior to getting any waxing about how long you should be off Accutane.
